Global Talent Visa

The Global Talent Independent (‘GTI’) program provides a fast-tracked pathway to permanent residency for professionals who work in industries that involve innovative technologies. Students and graduates may also be eligible for a GTI visa. There are no age, sponsorship, English language, or residency requirements attached to the program.

To be able to apply for a GTI visa you will need to complete the following two-step process:

  1. Submitting an expression of interest (‘EOI‘); and 
  2. Submitting a visa application.

EOI

Your EOI will be assess by an immigration officer. If it is
approved, you will receive an invitation from Immigration to lodge a GTI visa
application. 

Visa Application

If your visa application is approved, you will immediately become an Australian permanent resident. 

1. Target Sector

You must work in one of the sectors below or have recently undertaken studies related to these sectors at a PhD level. The GTI target sectors are:

  • Resources·      
  • Agrifood and AgTech (the application of technology to agriculture and food production)
  • Energy
  • Health Industries
  • Financial Services and FinTech (technology that seeks to improve and automate the delivery and use of financial services)
  • Infrastructure and Tourism
  • Circular Economy
  • Digitech
  • Defence, Advanced Manufacturing and Space
  • Education

   PhD students must have completed their degree in the last 3 years or are submitting their thesis in the next 6 months. 

2. Salary

You will meet this requirement if you currently have a gross annual salary of at least $153,600AUD. You can also meet this requirement by:

·       Having a job offer from an Australian employer; or

·       Providing evidence of your earning capacity.

3. Nomination

You will need to be nominated by an Australian organisation, citizen or permanent resident that has a high standing in the same field as you. A nomination is an endorsement that you are a good candidate a GTI visa.
